ANTIQUE 143W oak wood Western Electric Wall Telephone

An AUTHENTIC Original, Antique.......Western Electric wall phone or telephone.

IT WORKS! The crank at it's side turns nicely, the bells ring great, everything is in working order......in fact, someone has adapted it to be a modern telephone with a dial on the inside. It needs the end of the telephone cord plug to plug in to a receptacle.

This magnificent relic of days gone by is in fantastic shape for it's age. It's in it's original dark stained wood case. Overall the phone measures 20" tall x 8.5" wide (Excluding the crank handle and the receiver hook) x 12" deep. It's shelf is in fabulous shape, no dings, no dents. I was told it is tiger oak or quarter sawn oak which is harder to find and much more attractive..

It's receiver measures 5.5" long and is in good condition, no chips or cracks. One end reads, "Pat. in USA Dec. 4, 1900 - March 26, 1901. Western Electric 143W."

There is a plate located on the frontside which reads, "Western Electric Patented See Dates Inside."

When the door of the telephone is opened, one can see the original paper diagram of how the phone works on the left. Inside is a very small plate that reads, "Patented April 30, 1907 Made in USA.

The only visible obvious flaw that can be mentioned is a small split in the backside of the phone in the wood case, that goes up about 5". The split is hidden well on the back.. about 1" of the split can be seen from the frontside.....(please see photos). There is also a very small niche in the wood missing. This telephone weighs a bit over 30 pounds.

This neat old working phone is a perfect addition to your collection of antique telephones, Western Electric, in particular!

The contents of this auction have been stored in a smoke and pet free environment.

There is no reserve price on this auction. Payment is due within 3 days of auction closure. I do not add in the cost of insurance on my items when I list them for sale. Because I never know what price an auction will end at, it's impossible to include insurance in the shipping costs when I place the item for sale. THEREFORE, depending upon the final sale price of the item, insurance will be added if I should deem it necessary or my buyer chooses to have it insured. The cost of insurance, should I decide to insure or the buyer, will be paid by the buyer and in ADDITION to the shipping costs. Payment is due within 3 days of auction closure unless other arrangements are made before hand. I do not accept personal checks, only paypal. Shipping includes free delivery confirmation and I ship same day or next day.

I do not charge additional costs for handling charges unless the item is particularly fragile at which time I add only the cost of shipping supplies used to get your item to you safely.

Got this phone about 30 years ago from an older Gentalman. He had had it for years , Most parts are the orginal , he did rebuild a few thing and he did a great job ,I can not tell what was done. Inside are still the orginal wiring and label It says "C" Wiring and tells you what to do. This has hung on my kichen wall for all those years and everyone always loved it, but I am moving to a very small place and must sell.
